Pelican Products - 1976 - 2016 .... 40 Years of Protection

Protective Cases - 1990 - 2016 .... 26 Years of Distribution/Support

Pelican was founded in 1976 by Dave Parker and his wife Arline in their Torrance, California garage. An avid Scuba diver since age 11, Dave recognized the need for rugged flashlights and cases that wouldn’t leak or fail and set out to build a better product than any other on the market. After years of hard work and sacrifice, Pelican Products became a reality with its first product patent, the Pelican Float™. The legendary SabreLite™ flashlight and Protector Cases soon followed.

Pelican Products, Inc. is now the global leader in the design and manufacture of both high-performance protective case solutions and advanced portable lighting systems. Pelican products are used by professionals in the most demanding markets including fire safety, law enforcement, defense / military, aerospace, entertainment, industrial and consumer. Pelican products are designed and built to last a lifetime.

Protective Cases commenced an agency/distributor arrangement with the then Australian distributors, (Pelican Products Australia P/L), of Pelican products in October 1990. The Pelican case range consisted of 9 case sizes. Protective Cases has continued and built a strong relationship as a direct Premium Stockist/Distributor with the new Pelican Products Inc. Today we stock a range of around 200 Pelican Products case sizes and variations and 80 Pelican lighting products.

What is a Pelican case pressure equalisation valve?

Pelican pressure equalisation valve

The Pressure Equalisation Valve on Pelican cases is a simple device. It consists of a housing with a hole through it that is covered with a thin Gore-Tex® membrane. According to the Gore™ tech sheet: “The microporous expanded polytetraflouroethylene (ePTFE) membrane continuously allows the free passage of gases and vapors, equalizing the pressure differential between the enclosure and ambient before it builds to the point that a seal is compromised. Water, dust and dirt are repelled by the hydrophobic membrane, thereby protecting expensive and sensitive electronics.”

The opposite is also worth considering .... water/humidity once in, cannot escape when the case is securely closed. Around surf, rivers and high humidity tropical environments it is almost inevitable that moisture will be encased with your equipment. The solution that Protective Cases suggest for handling this is the inclusion of a reusable desiccant pack to absorb and hold the moisture away from your sensitive equipment.
